Urban Libraries Council
2010 Joey Rodger Fund for Library Leadership Award
Guidelines for Urban Libraries Council Sponsored Award
Purpose
Joey Rodger was appointed President of the Urban Libraries Council (ULC) in November 1992 and worked tirelessly to promote the public policy value of public libraries. She led, inspired, nurtured and implemented a public library agenda that produced a remarkable peer-to-peer consulting network, a landmark leadership development institute, the biennial Partners for Success conference in collaboration with the National League of Cities and a broad portfolio of actionable research ranging from youth development to collaboration with museums and public broadcasting.
In recognition of this extraordinary woman, who left ULC in 2004, the Executive Board of the Urban Libraries Council established the Joey Rodger Fund for Library Leadership. The purpose is to honor Joey’s leadership and promote leadership in the library community by creating a special fund that will foster leadership development for library leaders.
Criteria
The Award Selection Committee will evaluate applications based on:
1. A clear and concise explanation as to how this leadership opportunity will make the applicant a better library leader;
2. A description of the impact this leadership opportunity will have on the applicant’s library and community as a whole.

Only staff from ULC Member Libraries may submit nominations for this award.
