Children and teens need access to free online resources and to technology in order to succeed academically. They need a library experience that is simple, easy and exciting - one that provides access, discovery and delivery. The ID is Your Key initiative ensures that all Broward County Public School students have access to both. They quickly and easily get an online library card at school and a tablet at the library.

Opt-in forms were distributed by teachers at all Broward County Public Schools in October 2017. Parents and guardians of Broward County Public School students will have to sign the form for their children to participate in the BCL Digital Direct Library Card program. Since students use their student ID number, no physical library card is issued but students are encouraged to also have a standard Broward County Library card.

Your ID is Your Key initiative has impacted the library customer experience for over 45,000 Broward Public School students who have received a Digital Direct Broward County Library and for the hundreds who have checked out a free, public-use digital tablet. This program provides the three components necessary for a successful library experience: access, via the digital library card; discovery, via the countless free educational online resources now accessible; and delivery, via the free tablets.
